With its large number of natural and water-based attractions, the district of Potsdam-Mittelmark is the perfect place to visit all year round. The nearby villages of Petzow and Caputh can be reached on foot from Resort Schwielowsee during a beautiful stroll.
Werder, Town of Blossoms, is also a stone's throw away, not to forget the famous Tree Blossom Festival, which lures thousands to the city on the Havel river each year. The wonderful city island (old town centre) not only offers a fantastic selection of cafés and restaurants, but is also blessed with a beautiful setting. Visit the post windmill, the church and the market square.
The town of Brandenburg an der Havel, which received a rapidly-executed makeover in 2014 ahead of its participation in the German Federal Garden Show in 2015, is also perfect for tours of discovery. Surrounded by Brandenburg's seven Havel lakes and criss-crossed by a densely-branched network of canals, Brandenburg an der Havel offers visitors both cultural and natural delights. Stroll over the Millennium Bridge or explore the Cathedral Island.
Other places of interest include the asparagus town of Beelitz, Lehnin Monastery and Götz hill.
